Managing fire compliance usually means juggling several contractors, a stack of invoices and inspection dates that never line up. At Port Stephens Fire Protection, we bring it together under one roof. We've been keeping local buildings safe for over 40 years, covering fire equipment servicing, emergency lighting testing and Annual Fire Safety Statements. Owners and managers across Port Stephens get a single contact, a single schedule and one clear set of records instead of five. Every job is carried out to the Australian standards covering this work: AS 1851-2012 for fire equipment and AS/NZS 2293 for emergency lighting. Our fire safety assessments are endorsed by an accredited practitioner. Call us on 0460 644 635 and we'll work out what your building needs.

Our Compliance Services

01

Fire Equipment Sales & Services

We inspect, test and service extinguishers, hose reels, fire blankets and portable equipment on the routine schedule those standards set. Where a unit is expired or beyond repair, we supply and install the replacement.

AS 1851-2012
02

Emergency Lighting Testing & Inspection

We test exit signs and emergency lights, including the full 90-minute discharge test that proves the batteries still hold charge. Flat batteries and failed fittings are reported straight away so they can be sorted before your statement falls due.

Why Choose Us?

There's no shortage of contractors who can service a fire extinguisher. What's harder to find is one provider who covers the fire side and the electrical side, assesses the result and signs the paperwork at the end of it. That's the gap we fill for local businesses, strata committees, property managers and homeowners, and it's why our clients aren't chasing four separate reports every year.

About Port Stephens Fire Protection

Fire protection has been our trade for over 40 years, and this community has been our home for just as long. That matters more than it sounds. Buildings on the peninsula deal with salt-laden air that corrodes extinguisher cylinders and brackets faster than it does inland, and we know which sites need a closer look because of it.

Our work is overseen by Greg Windeatt, an Accredited Fire Safety Assessor holding certification F004391A. That accreditation is what qualifies us to certify Annual Fire Safety Statements in NSW, the yearly declaration confirming each essential fire safety measure in your building has been assessed and is capable of performing to the standard it was installed to. In NSW, only an accredited practitioner can sign it.

Assessment vs. Maintenance

These two get mixed up constantly, and the difference matters when your statement is due.

Maintenance

Maintenance is the routine work through the year: inspecting, testing and servicing each measure to the national fire servicing standard, which NSW made mandatory for most buildings other than standalone houses on 13 February 2026. It keeps the equipment working and creates the records behind it.

Assessment

Assessment is separate. An accredited practitioner inspects each measure listed on your fire safety schedule and confirms it's capable of performing to the standard it was installed to. That assessment is what informs the Annual Fire Safety Statement.

Good maintenance doesn't guarantee a clean assessment, and an assessment can't fix what maintenance missed. We do both, so nothing turns up at the last minute.
